  Dancing Together Aphrodite's Daddy

We are the wedding party guests of a marriage between heaven and earth.  The Greeks had names for father heaven---Ouranos and mother earth--Gaia.  Their union gave birth to the mountains, the oceans, the trees, the birds and all of us mortals.

Tonight we're dancing Aphrodite's Daddy.  Who her daddy was---exactly-- is questionable.  Some legends say Zeus, the God of all gods and mortals, was her father.  But older legends indicate that it was Zeus' father Kronos who took a scythe and castrated his father Uranus, taking the severed genitals and throwing them into the vast ocean.  The genitals are said to have fallen into the foam of the ocean from which Aphrodite arose, kind of the way you see her depicted in Botechilli's Venus.  (Venus is what the Romans called Aphrodite)  What this all means, could take hours of discussion to decipher---

but it being Father's day on Sunday---I wanted to borrow a Greek word---'therepia' to inspire our dance to night.  The word therapy derives from therepia which in its original meaning was service, therepia meant service and/or to be in attendance of an altar.  To be in attendance of an altar to the Gods---in attendance to the invisible..

Tonight we conjure the good, the bad or the ugly daddy---and we ask

why do I love my problems, daddy?  Why is it that that is all I can talk about?  Think about?

why are my problems so attractive?

Why am I so drawn to them?

Why do my problems have the magnet power of Love sometimes?

Why do I desire them so?

Tell me daddy, is that why my problems won't go away?

What would my life be without my problems?

Daddy's---whoever they may turn out to be--- begin outside their children, looking in.

They are the first friend we learn make or fail at.  Sometimes the first friend we learn to avoid like the plague.

Tonight therepeia---with the blessings of the Goddess of love herself---invites you to Dance with the daddy that knows all the answers. Make up or make it up, if you have to---to  Love the good, the bad and ugly daddy with all your heart, as if--- he was yourself.

Thank you for attending--- for showing up to do this one--big service---to yourself.
