"Beautiful.  Beautiful, magnificent desolation."  That is what Buzz Aldrin said upon being the second man to ever set foot on the moon.

When you look up desolation in the dictionary, it tell you that it is the act or instance of desolating---the state of being desolate.  It is that which is barren devastated---solitary---a lonely, a desolate place---it is the feeling of being abandoned by friends or by hope.

It is the kind of word that only the bible likes to use.

Tonight

we are dancing---biblical proportions which means---something  that happens on such a huge scale it could be biblical---

When we dance, we border on magnificence---we release the ecstasy well placed all over our body, we shake it out and become intoxicated with the natural drug of magnificence.

Last week I happened to catch an interview with former astronaut Buzz Aldrin on NPR In the interview talking about his experience of magnificent desolation he said that landing on the moon was nothing when compared to having to come back to the earth.

The coming back to earth that he spoke about---took him into recovery, he quickly became an alcoholic to cope with that kind of magnitude--and yes, biblical proportion.

Today this quote fell out of a book:

“It always strikes me, and it is very peculiar, that when we see the image of indescribable and unutterable desolation - of loneliness, of poverty and misery, the end of all things, or their extreme - then rises in our mind the thought of God.” (Vincent van Gogh)

And with it came the invitation for this dance.  Let us dance in BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS--

so that we too,

can recover ourselves---and find our connection to THAT which is so much bigger than all of us.

Thank you for having the courage---!!!
