MOTHER'S DAY 2009 - The Invitation to Dance
How many of you were born?
We all have that in common.
Today--we are dancing DELIVERY.
That's why today is a great day to dance together
aware that we're honoring and celebrating our mothers for delivering us to 'wonderland'--our bodies!!!
Whether you had a close or estranged or challenged relationship with your mother, its a day to recognize that you--were born--into this body, which your parents made possible---but which only your mother, delivered.
How many mothers are present? Can I invite you to join me in a circle, within a circle. We are grateful for the body or bodies you have brought into the world.
To celebrate the occasion, I ask you to consider that just like mothers created the miracle that is our body, it is our body which is the womb---for our souls. That becomes our business to birth. Birthing our souls is a virgin birth, no one can do it but yourself. For me there is no better way to begin that process than dancing--
thank you for showing up--happy birthing to all of you.
I sent myself a letter. It took five days to find its way to me. It apparently went through a few challenges before it could get delivered--
the machine tore part of it off and the letter, was delivered--to a perfect stranger and the perfect stranger wrote--WRONG ADDRESS on the envelope. For some of us, we have often felt 'delivered' to the wrong family, the wrong job, the wrong relationship when in truth, you are the only one that can give birth to your soul and spirit in the dance and DELIVER YOURSELF to where your heart guides you.
Thank you mothers present for holding the sacred circle and intention, which in this case, is the reading of the letter:

Dear Dancing Heart,
Have patience with everything that remains unresolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, the locked rooms and books written in a foreign language. Do not look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything.
At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually without even noticing it, find yourself dancing the answer. . .on this brand new day.
Sincerely yours--
R.M. Rilke
Thank you for delivering yourself here this morning! Enjoy dancing the questions and your birthday--today! And thank you mothers, grandmothers for making each of us---a love child.
